FAQ’S
– Private Training –
Where is your service area?
Plain, Leavenworth, Cashmere, Wenatchee and East Wenatchee. A $20 travel fee will be added for locations within 30 minutes outside of the service area. Travel beyond that is agreed upon a case by case basis.
I have more than one dog. Will it cost more to train them together?
We charge by the session, not by the dog. Multiple dogs can be trained together in the same session however, your dogs may need to be split up at times for efficiency during training sessions.
What if I have to cancel a training session?
We require 24 hour notice to reschedule a training session otherwise your session fee will be forfeit. Emergency cancelations will be addressed on a case by case basis.
My dog is aggressive and biting people. Can you help me?
This depends on the severity of the aggressive behavior. I do take some cases of aggression and cases where a dog has bitten. The first step is to schedule an in-home consultation appointment to evaluate your dogs behavior. If I feel that I am not qualified to help you I will refer you to a colleague who can.
– Group Classes –
Where are your classes located?
All classes are held at Wenatchee Valley Humane Society.
What is positive reinforcement training? Are you a positive reinforcement dog trainer?
Yes! Positive reinforcement training is a style of dog training where we use markers and rewards to reinforce behavior we want to see. We don’t yell, hit, physically coerce or use other techniques your dog would find aversive. Positive reinforcement training is supported by the ASPCA, Humane Society’s of America and the American College of Veterinary Behavior.
Can more than one person come to classes with my dog?
Yes! Up to 4 people can come to class per dog.
Can I bring my kids to class with me?
Kids 12 and older are welcome in class to participate without extra adult supervision. For kids under 12 they will need to be accompanied and supervised by an adult who is not training your dog.
What if I have to miss a class?
If there is another class series scheduled the same week you can make up your class.
What if I enroll in class and my female dog goes into heat?
Females in heat cannot come to class. You can postpone returning to class until your dog completes her heat cycle or you can restart the series at our next available class start. (classes typically run every 2 months.)
Does my dog need to be vaccinated to enroll in a class?
Yes! Your dog must have an up-to-date Rabies, DHPP/DA2PP and Bordetella vaccine administered from your veterinarian. Please have your vaccination records ready when you enroll in a group class. Unvaccinated dogs will not be allowed to enroll or attend classes.
How many dogs are in each class?
We do not have a super large training arena and therefore classes are typically 4-6 dogs. This gives you an opportunity for more one-on-one time with the trainer during class.
